Our Hearts

vol upThe Harbor is a place called to reach the entire community of Ventura including the under served, the disenfranchised, the poor, the homeless, the white collar workers, the blue collar workers and their families. All are welcomed at The Harbor. We have a heart to embrace those on the streets homeless and bring them into the Love of Jesus Christ by loving them and helping them find permanent solutions to every challenge they have. We are a church with no walls in side the walls of the Church. We see rich and poor side by side worshiping the Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday’s! And helping each other, serving each other and loving each other all week. Together we want to see every man, woman and child in Ventura County reached with the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Harbor and its members which consist largely of former or current homeless men, women, and children believe the Bible commands us to minister to the homeless by opening our doors and hearts. That belief centers on Matthew 25:34-46, in verses 34-40 Jesus says: “Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.’For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat ; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink ; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’”Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink ?’And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? ‘When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’”The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’ ” We believe that caring for the homeless is a form of divine communion with God.

About the Harbor

about“Reaching the Least of the Lost” And Becoming A Body of Believers reaching up to Worship The Lord Jesus Christ, reaching out to share the good news of Jesus Christ to others, reaching down to help others grow in Jesus Christ

Our Vision is to be the church making disciples of Jesus Christ growing in the Knowledge of the Father, Relationship with the Son and in The Power of The Holy Spirit to fulfill our Mission.

At the Harbor we do church every day of the week through our ministry called Operation Embrace. Everyday members of The Harbor family go out to the parks and river bottom and “reach the least of these among us” the homeless, and poorest of the poor in our city. We go to embrace them, befriend them and share the good news and teachings of Jesus Christ. Our goal is to go where they are, and love them and hang out with them where ever they call home and become the church to them. We Invite them to the church to be a part of our community where our church services are held Monday – Friday and on Sundays. At The Harbor we demonstrate the love God has for us all as we help our members nurture their faith and develop hope. Most importantly we become a friend and begin a one on one mentoring and discipleship program for each one that chooses to have some one come along side them and teach them more about Jesus and our Christian faith. Our goal is to help every one that comes to our church family for help and help them find value and love and walk along side them with hope and solutions to their addictions and homeless living situations.

The Kingdom Center

The Lord has provided a location for us all to provide a Christ Centered – Emergency and Transitional Living Center in the Heart of the city of Oxnard. This will be a center to provide food, clothing, shelter, and overall care for the homeless and poor women and children. These are the widows and orphans of our community.

 Mathew 25:34-40

Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.”Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink ?’And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? ‘When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’”The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’ ”

The Tumi Program

As a national training arm of World Impact, TUMI equips leadership for the urban church, especially among the poor, in order to advance the Kingdom of God. We focus our investment on leaders who are called to evangelize, disciple, plant, and pastor churches in unreached urban neighborhoods. Our single passion and desire is to advance the Kingdom of God in America’s inner cities, and, as God leads, around the globe.

Stories from Residents of the Kingdom Center

The Kingdom Center has helped many homeless families and people have a home. These are a few of their stories.

The Tumi Program

TUMI is dedicated to draw together urban churches, pastors, denominations, and associations in order to recover for spirituality and mission the Bible’s salvation history in Abraham and the people of Israel. We want to regain in our theology that prophetic and apostolic witness to Jesus Christ.

The Harbor Church Fights to Stay Open

Each day, Harbor Church opens its doors to the homeless, providing: daily chapel services, worship music, Bible studies and prayer. They also engage the homeless through pastoral counseling. They also offer daily breakfast and lunch, hot showers, clothing and laundry facilities to those in need.Because they help the homeless each day, the City of Ventura has ordered the church to close its doors during the week.
